The Air Jordan is one of the original, longest standing and t, to this day, most popular basketball shoes on the market. The first version- The Air Jordan I was released all the way back in 1985and has been re introduced and is still offered as a vintage/classic today. The bradn, created and owned by Nike sponsors over 20 NBA players today , many of which are the biggest names in the league.
The shoe originated as the brain child of Michael Jordan, and was designed by Peter Moore. The prototype was rejected by the NBA Commissioner at the time, largely because of the red and black colours, namely because of the lack of white on the shoe. (i.e. the 51% rule). Contrary to popular belief, it was not the Air Jordan that was banned from the NBA, the Air Jordan has never actually been banned. There has, since the first version, been over 25 versions of the shoe released, not including special anniversary, re-introductions and vintage re-launches.
The Adidas Superstar was the first low top basketball sneaker to feature the leather shell toe. It was released back in 1969, making it one of Adidas’ longest standing and most successful models. The shoe was used evidently for its intended purpose, i.e. for playing basketball, but has since evolved to be one of the most common casual sneakers on the market. It is worn by celebrities, athletes, kids, adults, and by people all over the world. As a matter of fact, after its first few years on the market, the shoe was adopted and loved by over three quarters of all NBA players.
Both shoes have a reputation longer than most shoes, but it is the Nike Air Jordan whose brand prevails when it comes to novelty and notoriety. It is hard for any shoe, no matter how old to compete with the Air Jordan.
